Like all the most beautiful life stories, this one began spontaneously—during the COVID-19 lockdown. At the time, we were finding countless ways to fill the days of children around us, without phones or TV screens in the picture. It all started with one Tijana, her efforts to keep her youngest away from screens, and the realization that there were no interesting coloring books about Montenegro.
From an early age, we’re taught that we are stronger together. The women behind this colorful project add that we’re also more creative together. Each of us is unique in her own way, with different interests and surrounded by children in different roles—as mothers, aunts, or godmothers—and that became our reason to focus on the youngest. We were inspired by what surrounds us and determined to create something that is, above all, educational—but in a different, more creative way.
Children deserve access to content created in Montenegro and connected to the treasures it holds—presented in an original way that is both fun and educational. We want children to know they can leave their own mark on everything, to encourage them to create and be who they truly are—little wizards who change the world! For us adults, this is a reminder not to forget the child within us, to have fun, and to keep exploring.
We believe that the stories and illustrations that make up the first Montenegrin coloring books not only bring joy and learning but also remind us of how rich and exciting our history is. They also remind us how important our role is in preserving the very best and most beautiful parts of what we have—not just for ourselves, but for the generations to come.
We color Montenegro with all kinds of hues, discovering it through stories and legends that deserve to be shared so we can love it even more. We hope that each main character takes you by the hand and pulls you into their colorful world—and that you keep coming back so we can explore Montenegro together, an endless source of inspiration.
